The bird sanctuary Eilat
_
Eilat is one of the most important stopover sites for migratory birds in the world. As the only overland bridge between Europe, Asia, and Africa, the region serves as a bottleneck for hundreds of millions of migratory birds.
_
Along the trails and from the bird hides, visitors can discover various habitats – freshwater lakes, saltpans, saltmarshes, and forests. These habitats are home to a wide variety of birds, including waterfowl, herons, kingfishers, waders, flamingos, and more.
_
Guided tours of the Bird Sanctuary are led by researchers from the research station and offer a great opportunity to learn about and appreciate the incredible journeys undertaken by migratory birds.
_
Birds are carefully captured for monitoring purposes and then released back into the wild.
